Moss was born February 13, 1977. He is an American footballer. He was an
American football player who played 14 seasons in the National Football League
(NFL), including with the Minnesota Vikings and Oakland Raiders and the New
England Patriots and Tennessee Titans. He is widely regarded as the best wide
receiver of all-time together with Jerry Rice, he holds the NFL single-season
touchdown reception record (23 in 2007) in addition to the NFL single-season
record for touchdown reception for a rookie (17 in 1998) and is ranked second
in the NFL all-time regular season touchdown reception list, with 156. Moss was
famous for his skills in securing a his contested catch "mossed" is
now a term used in football. Following his professional football career began,
he was hired as a studio analyst for ESPN for the Sunday NFL Countdown program
and Monday Night Countdown. Moss was born in Rand, West Virginia. He attended
DuPont High School, one of two schools later consolidated into Riverside High
School, where the student excelled in football basketball as well as baseball
and track. Randy was also part of the school's debate team. Moss was the
captain of the DuPont Panthers football team to two consecutive state
championships in 1992, 1993. His most prominent position was wide receiver.
However, he also played free safety in punted kickoffs, as well as was the
team’s punter and kicker. He was awarded the Kennedy Award for West Virginia
Football Player of the Year in 1994. Parade magazine named him to their annual
All-American high school football team in 1995 and in 2009, they named him as
one of the 50 most influential football players from high school of all time.
