Abi Clarke
In the past,
i.e. in the beginning of 2020, comedians may have imagined spending several
years traveling around the UK as stand-up comedians, prior to being invited
onto a television panel show, and later selling out an arena tour. But it is
not that simple in the present. Comedy is one art form which has managed to
remain performed front of a live audience, however, we'll probably not see
arena tours any time soon. One Bristol comedian has managed to attract a huge
worldwide audience during lockdowns through social media. Being famous on the
internet is not something that Abi Clarke had set out to attain. Abi Clarke,
24, who lives in Henbury , England with her parents made her first online
videos to "build a community of similar people who would enjoy my stand-up
comic act." "I performed a lot in Devon to men who were in their 50s
and weren't so keen on my Love Island Sims and Twilight references, so I
decided to go online to find others who were young and would love my stand-up
routine." Abi, who lives in Hen bury with her parents, continues to upload
her videos to Instagram, Twitter, and Tik Tok. She finds inspiration from a
variety of sources, including conversations with strangers, the chatroom, and
also writing down her thoughts on her smartphone.
